Master of Technical Editing and Directing in Media

As the curtain rose on a new era in media and public service, one name shines brighter than the rest—Michael Kerr. A trailblazer with a storied career spanning over three decades, Michael's journey is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and dedication. From the moment he stepped foot in the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation as a young professional straight out of high school, his trajectory was set on a path of excellence.

With ten years of formative experience under his belt, Michael made the bold move to the Jamaica Information Service (JIS), where he has spent over 21 years making an indelible mark on the organization. As Senior Video Editor and Technical Director, he not only rose through the ranks but also became a mentor and a driving force behind the next generation of media professionals. His commitment to training and development has ensured that the industry continues to evolve and thrive.

However, Michael's achievements extend far beyond his technical expertise. As part of an award-winning team at JIS, he played a pivotal role in crafting the critically acclaimed feature 'Haiti in Distress,' which earned the prestigious Best Human Interest Television Feature Award from the Press Association of Jamaica at their National Journalism Awards. This accomplishment stands as a testament to Michael's editing prowess, through which he weaves compelling stories that capture the hearts of audiences.

Moreover, Michael's dedication to public service has been recognized by the Jamaica Civil Service Association, which honored him for five years of exemplary service. As Senior Engineering Editor at JIS, he continues to inspire and motivate those around him, setting a high standard for excellence in all aspects of his craft.

As we celebrate Michael Kerr's remarkable journey, we are reminded that true success is not just about individual achievement; it is also about the collective impact one has on others. His legacy serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all those who aspire to make a difference in their chosen fields.
