From Cameraman to Media Manager - Elevating Broadcasting Standards in Jamaica
Keith Campbell has etched his name in the annals of Jamaican broadcasting history with a remarkable journey from Rosemary and Water Lane in Downtown Kingston, to Black River, St. Elizabeth and the St. Elizabeth Technical High School, to the helm of the country's lone public broadcaster, the Public Broadcasting Corporation of Jamaica (PBCJ). Over his storied career, which has spanned multiple decades, Mr. Campbell has consistently pushed the boundaries of creative excellence, professional integrity, and innovative leadership.
His passion for broadcasting ignited during his time at St. Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS), where he served as the president of the Television and Radio Club. This extracurricular engagement not only refined his skills but also piqued the interest of personnel at the newly established Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC), who recruited him as a studio cameraman following his graduation. Mr. Campbell quickly rose through the ranks, earning promotions to cinematographer and audio technician in the Film Department, then producer after graduating from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, underscoring his expertise and dedication.
From his origins in the film unit, Mr. Campbell made a remarkable transition to management, serving as the Director of Production at the Creative Production and Training Center (CPTC) and later as the Director of Television at JBC. He also held key positions as Programmes and Production Manager at Television Jamaica (TVJ) and CVM Television.

Additionally, he shares his wealth of knowledge as a lecturer at the Media Technology Institute (MTI), which is part of the CPTC, and the University of the West Indies, CARIMAC (adjunct Lecturer). As a leader, Mr. Campbell has inspired excellence at JBC and CVM Television, championing innovation and elevating broadcasting standards in Jamaica. Under his stewardship, both organizations garnered numerous awards for their outstanding programming, solidifying their reputations as beacons of quality in Jamaican media.
Most recently, the Public Broadcasting Corporation of Jamaica (PBCJ), under Campbell's leadership, achieved a significant milestone by winning the coveted Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU) award for excellence in environmental reporting, focusing on mangrove and seagrass beds. This recognition attests to his commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and his dedication to amplifying the diverse voices and stories of the Jamaican people through public broadcasting.
As the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the PBCJ, Keith Campbell has played an instrumental role in advancing the mission of public broadcasting, transforming the organization into a trusted resource for education, information, and entertainment. His innovative approach has not only elevated the quality of programming but also strengthened the PBCJ's role as a champion of public interest in media.

Beyond his broadcasting achievements, Mr. Campbell is deeply committed to community service and governance. He currently serves as a Board Member of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA), and has served as the Vice President and President of the St. Thomas Cricket Association. He has also served as Secretary of the Broadcast and Allied Credit Union, where he contributes his expertise to strengthen the financial well-being of broadcast professionals. Additionally, he also served as a board member of the African Caribbean Institute of Jamaica/Jamaica Memory Bank/Liberty Hall, further highlighting his dedication to preserving cultural heritage.
Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Campbell has mentored countless professionals in the broadcasting industry, both locally and throughout the Caribbean. His influence extends well beyond his role as CEO, as he continues to inspire a new generation of media leaders and storytellers. In his capacity as a Director of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU) and Vice President of the Union, Mr. Campbell’s dedication to advancing public broadcasting in the region is unwavering.
