Sheila's career in education began in the vibrant context of Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC), where she engaged younger audiences as a Romper Room teacher. This foundational experience sparked a lifelong passion for nurturing young minds. Throughout the 1970s, she further expanded her influence as a Spanish teacher at Excelsior High School, where her engaging teaching methods captivated students. Sheila demonstrated that learning a language can be as invigorating as a performance on stage, seamlessly blending her love for the theatre with her educational techniques.

Her commitment to language education didn't stop there. Sheila went on to teach at Shortwood Teachers' College, honing the next generation of educators. Her dedication reached international shores as she served as a Foreign Language Teacher at Winthrop University in the USA, imparting her expertise and love for languages to students eager to explore the world through communication.

Teaming up with her husband, Reggie Carter—a noted advertising executive, producer, and actor—Sheila co-founded Carterhill Productions. This collaboration brought forth a rich tapestry of artistic endeavours, highlighting her versatility as both an artist and an entrepreneur.
