A Distinctive Voice in Jamaica's Media Landscape

Charles Lewin, a renowned broadcaster at the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC), began his journalism career at JBC in the mid-1970s. Known for his distinctive voice, Lewin anchored the evening newscast on JBC television for many years and gained popularity as the host of the 2:00—5:00 a.m. radio slot, featuring the beloved segment "3 O’Clock Rock," which showcased contemporary rock music alongside classics from the '60s and '70s.

His talents extended beyond broadcasting; he was also an accomplished artist and a highly regarded chef. After migrating to Canada in the 1990s with his wife Aline, a Canadian diplomat, he continued to engage with current affairs, the arts, and music through online writing.

He passed away on September 16, 2019, in Ottawa, Canada, at the age of 70.

Lewin's legacy is marked by his deep love for arts and culture, making a lasting impact on Jamaican media before his passing.
