A Prominent Figure in Jamaican Arts and Media

Michael London, affectionately known as 'Boysie', is a vibrant figure in Jamaican entertainment, renowned for his dynamic performances and contributions to media, theatre, and film. 


His theatrical journey began in 1977 when he met playwright Trevor Rhone, becoming an essential part of the production team for the landmark play 'Old Story Time,' which holds the record as Jamaica's longest-running play, delighting audiences for over two and a half years. London's dynamic involvement in the media landscape extends to the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC) and Television Jamaica (TVJ), where he has guided numerous documentaries, showcasing his versatility and engaging presence.

In the realm of film, Michael's illustrious career includes significant roles as a location manager in notable productions, such as 'Cocktail' with Tom Cruise, 'Club Paradise' featuring Robin Williams, and 'GoldenEye,' a classic James Bond film. He also served as a third assistant director and made a memorable on-screen appearance in the beloved Disney film 'Cool Runnings'. Additionally, he contributed to the cinematic landscape and appeared on screen in the 'Mighty Quinn,' starring Denzel Washington. Mr. London also worked behind the scenes as production coordinator on 'Clara's Heart' with Whoopi Goldberg. 


Michael was also a part of the production team in the creation of a number of music videos with music legends like reggae icon Jimmy Cliff, Shaggy, dancehall artiste Mad Cobra and Eddie Murphy in various music videos. He captured the hearts of Jamaican audiences through his iconic role in the O'Connor's Photo Lab commercial series, where he charmed viewers alongside actress Joan Andrea Hutchinson. This series, which aired in the early 1980s, quickly became a cultural touchstone in Jamaica.

For his outstanding contributions to the creative industry, particularly in advertising, film, and music video production, London was awarded the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Officer (OD) at Jamaica's National Honours and Awards Ceremony.


Michael London’s extensive body of work has had a profound impact on Jamaican media, theatre, and film. His ventures have not only entertained audiences but have also influenced the industry, showcasing the richness of Jamaican culture to a global audience. His dedication to authenticity in storytelling and passionate engagement in creative projects have paved the way for future generations of entertainers, establishing him as a true pioneer in Jamaica’s vibrant artistic landscape.
