A Legacy of Journalism and Community Empowerment

Allison Holness is a celebrated figure in Jamaican journalism and community development. She began her career at JBC TV shortly after high school, initially as a Continuity Announcer and later gaining recognition as a presenter on the entertainment program 'Where It’s At.'

Her contributions to JBC included roles as a production assistant on the game show 'Buss Mi Brain,' where she worked with notable figures like actress Sheryl-Lee Ralph, and as part of productions such as 'Ring Ding' with Miss Lou and the 'School's Challenge Quiz'. As a news anchor during JBC's peak influence, she became a trusted voice for viewers through her poised presentation and skilled storytelling, setting high standards in news broadcasting.

After leaving JBC to pursue a degree in sociology, Alison dedicated herself to social work. At the Ministry of Youth’s Children's Services Division and later at the Ministry of Housing's Urban Upgrading Program, she initiated programs that improved the lives of underprivileged communities. Her efforts established community workshops for skills training, a basic school, and a family planning initiative that successfully reduced teenage pregnancies.

Additionally, Alison worked with the Mico Child Assessment and Research in Education (CARE) Centre, aiding in Case Conferences and supporting children's educational needs. She also remains deeply engaged with her church, taking on multiple leadership roles, including coordinator for the Intercessory ministry.

Today, she continues to utilize her broadcasting skills to mentor young people, leaving a significant impact on both media and community development in Jamaica. Her legacy is marked by her commitment to empowerment and her ability to inspire change in the lives of individuals and communities.
