Ian Boyne (1957-2017) stands as a monumental figure in Jamaican journalism, celebrated for his unwavering commitment to storytelling, truth, and positive journalism. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Boyne's career, which began in 1975, spanned over three decades, marked by notable achievements and an indelible impact on media and society. He was the creator and host of the iconic television series 'Profile', which showcased inspiring stories of resilience and triumph, illuminating the human spirit across varied walks of life.

Beyond television, Boyne was a prolific author and motivational speaker. His groundbreaking book, Profile of Excellence, co-authored with Glenford Smith, distilled insights from over 1,300 interviews, serving as a guide for personal and professional achievement. His journalistic excellence extended to his work with publications like the Jamaica Gleaner, where his thought-provoking columns won multiple accolades, including several titles as Opinion Journalist of the Year.


In addition to his journalistic pursuits, Boyne was a devoted minister of religion, using his platform to inspire and uplift his faith community, further deepening the impact of his message on social issues and personal development.

Boyne's contributions were recognised at the national level when he received the Order of Distinction in 2009, solidifying his status as a journalistic leader. Described as the 'Father of Positive Journalism,' his legacy encourages a climate of dialogue, empowerment, and social reform. Ian Boyne's profound impact continues to inspire aspiring journalists and truth-seekers, as he passionately advocated for freedom, equality, and the power of the written word. His passing leaves a significant void in the media landscape, but his spirit and ideals live on.
