A Legacy of Journalism and Empowerment

Carole Embden Peterson gained prominence as a respected news reporter and presenter at the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC), where she laid the groundwork for her dynamic career in media. Transitioning behind the scenes, she immersed herself in production while earning a Master’s degree in mass communication from the University of Windsor in Canada. Her journey led her to the Jamaica Observer, where she served as the newspaper's first news editor during its launch in 1992, playing a crucial role in shaping its editorial direction.

After relocating to the United States in 1994, she continued to make her mark in media with Cox Communications Inc. before moving on to Mitsubishi Electric as a Learning and Development Architect. A passionate advocate for education, she completed her doctorate at the University of Pretoria in 2021, driven by her commitment to inspire the next generation. Carole dedicated her time to teaching at Shorter College and Athens Technical College, and she founded Maango Media Training Company to further empower others in their professional journeys.



Carole Embden Peterson covers Hurricane Gilbert

Throughout her life, her love for literature flourished through her writing pursuits and her involvement with the Caribbean Divas Book Club, reflecting her belief in the transformative power of knowledge and community.

 

Carole Embden Peterson passed away in March 2023 in Atlanta, leaving a lasting legacy of excellence in journalism, education, and community service.
