Hugh Crosskill was a luminary in Caribbean journalism, whose illustrious career spanned esteemed media organisations such as the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC), CANA News Agency and the BBC. Beginning his journey at the tender age of 18, Hugh Crosskill quickly made his mark as a gifted sportscaster at JBC, earning acclaim for his captivating commentary, especially in cricket—a sport close to the hearts of many Caribbean people.

In 1983, he took on the pivotal role of establishing and leading the CANA Radio service in Barbados, transforming it into an essential news outlet for the region. His vision ensured that Caribbean stories received the attention they deserved, often overshadowed by larger international agencies.
By 1988, Hugh had joined the BBC as the head of the Caribbean Service, where he was instrumental in creating the flagship program, BBC Caribbean Report. His distinctive interviewing style and analytical insights set new benchmarks for journalistic excellence, leaving a lasting impression on audiences and peers alike.
