Broadcasting Pioneer
Mr. Needham's remarkable journey began at ZQI Radio (later Radio Jamaica) in 1951, where he started as a teenager. By 1961, he joined the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC) as Director of Programs and Production. His vision and leadership skills propelled him to the position of Assistant General Manager in 1962, overseeing the broadcast coverage of Jamaica's Independence celebrations. In 1966, Mr. Needham rose to the top as General Manager of the JBC, shaping the station's direction and cementing his legacy as a true broadcasting pioneer.
Protocol & Logistics Expert
Beyond his broadcasting achievements, Mr. Needham distinguished himself as a Protocol & Logistics Consultant, coordinating high-profile events in Jamaica. In 1990, he made history by organizing the royal visit of HRH Ann, The Princess Royal, in support of the University of the West Indies. This remarkable feat earned him recognition as the first non-governmental individual to achieve this milestone. In 1994, he served as an advisor to Governor-General Sir Howard Cooke during Queen Elizabeth II's visit to Jamaica, collaborating with prominent figures such as Donald Davidson and Rear Admiral Peter Brady.
