Charles Hyatt (1931-2007) was a prominent Jamaican actor, playwright, director, and broadcaster, best known for his influential work in theatre and broadcasting. He began his career in the late 1950s with the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC), where he co-hosted an early morning chat show and created the popular radio series "Here Comes Charley," showcasing his talent for comedy and storytelling.

Hyatt's contributions to the arts extended beyond radio; he was a celebrated character actor who appeared in numerous films and television shows, including notable works like "A High Wind in Jamaica" and "Cool Runnings." He spent 14 years in the UK, performing in various theatres and television productions, before returning to Jamaica in the 1970s.
At JBC, he became the head of the drama department, where he produced and directed several plays and soap operas, significantly shaping Jamaican television. Hyatt was recognized for his artistic achievements with the national honor of Order of Distinction and received multiple awards for his performances.
His legacy as a cultural icon in Jamaica is marked by his dedication to the arts, his influence on broadcasting, and his ability to connect with audiences through humor and storytelling.
